Alumni of the Middle East Entrepreneur Training Program ![]() About 250 of the Middle East and North Africa’s most promising entrepreneurs, lawyers and business and civil society leaders met at the Dead Sea in Jordan June 9-11 for a networking and development conference presented by the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) of the U.S. Department of State. The attendees are alumni of two MEPI-funded programs: the Legal and Business Fellowship Program (LBFP) managed by America-Mideast Educational and Training Services, Inc. (AMIDEAST), which provides young women in business and law an opportunity to practice their skills in the U.S., gain experience, and advocate for an improved investment climate and legal reforms; and the Beyster Institute’s Middle East Entrepreneur Training (MEET) program, which provides intensive entrepreneurship and leadership training and support systems for prominent business and civil society leaders. Over 300 leaders from across the region have graduated from the MEET program and continue to develop their skills and networks through the MEET Alumni Network website and events such as this conference in Jordan. The joint alumni conference allowed graduates of both programs to share knowledge and make professional contacts throughout the region. Featured speakers included U.S. Ambassador to Jordan David Hale; executive coaching and organizational development specialist and Wharton School Senior Fellow Dr. Dafna Eylon; and Bill Taylor, entrepreneur, speaker and author of "Mavericks at Work: Why the Most Original Minds in Business Win." “Collectively, alumni of these programs include brilliant recent graduates and young professionals as well as successful executives and established leaders,” said Dr. Rob Fuller, director of entrepreneurial programs for the Beyster Institute. “This event offered opportunities to strengthen the networks among them and create valuable mentorships across the region.” ©2008 The Beyster Institute and its authors and their entities.
